Some folks have contacted us about how to order an eightCubed – the simple answer is you can’t yet. We’ve sold out of eightCubed v2.3 kits. But, v2.4 is just about in production! With the finalisation of our casing design and new Delcon controllers on their way, we’re anticipating the next kits available just after the New Year.

When the time does come to order an eightCubed kit, they will be available in our store. A casing is necessary to assemble an eightCubed – some people prefer to make their own casing. We completely support that and encourage makers to customise our products. However, for those that do not want to build their own casing, our case product will be available as a separate item in our store. These two products together will let anyone create a fully-functional LED cube with all the trimmings.

In addition to separating the casing and cube kits, we will offer the Delcon controllers and lattice materials as separate products. Again, we are doing this to support the people who wish to customise their cube.

You’ll see a clear path for ordering the necessary items in our store when the cubes are in stock.

With any luck, the base plates, for a partial kit fulfillment, will be shipped this week! This means we’ll have them beginning of next week, test their fit with the case design, then start packing the partial kits!

Keep in mind, the partial kits do not come with a complete case – all other materials for the eightCubed are included. This means, when building a partial kit, there will not be a location to mount the user interface or LCD. Users are welcome to use the partial kit’s base plate, building around it, to create a mount for those two items. Be creative!

Nexthe plates are tested!

We know there are so many people awaiting the eightCubed release – we are too! We appreciate the many interest emails received, please know we’re doing our best to complete the kits!

To build an eightCubed lattice, you need a base plate – some piece of material to support the vertical ties and entire lattice structure. Also, to install wiring below the lattice, it’s best to thread the ribbon cables through the base case and base plate in one assembly. These two reasons are why we have been holding the release for so long – neither the base plate or base case is ready!

While the base cases take 3+ weeks to produce, the base plates can take as little as a day. We’ve decided to focus on having the base plates produced, so our customers can receive a kit with a partial case (base plate only).

More soon!
